Visit the State Capitol

The Texas State Capitol building is a National Historic Landmark. If you are in Austin, you should visit this remarkable building and experience its beauty live. Some of the things to see include the red granite that shines brightly, the gigantic brass door hinges and the top of the amazing dome. There is also a gift shop and a cafeteria. The wonderfully landscaped gardens and a free guided tour of the 17 surrounding monuments are a real treat.

Hike to Mount Bonnell

This is one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset from. It is an amazing place and you can find many scenic spots here to enjoy the breathtaking views. The Dinosaur Park

This is a short 30 minute drive to Cedar Creek which is southeast of Austin. The Dinosaur Park is ready to thrill and amaze the whole family. Take the family around the park and meet the dinosaurs. They range from 2ft tall to one that is a gigantic 85ft long. There are fossil digs so the children can dig, excavate and find dinosaur treasures. It is a great place for family fun, especially for the kids.

Enjoy the world famous Congress Bridge Bats

Viewing the Congress Bridge Bats is one of the most popular tourist activities in Austin. It is a spectacle to watch and the views are breathtaking. Watch as many as 1.5 million bats scatter in the sky during their nighty departure from under the Congress Bridge in their relentless pursuit of eating mosquitoes.

The bats can be viewed from a number of different venues, including an electric paddle wheel boat cruise, a Lone Star Riverboat tour, and a Kayak Bat Watching Tour.
