Surge Of Tech Companies in Austin Creating Lots Of Jobs

Austin is known by many people as a live music scene and is also famous for outdoor entertainment events. Recently it has also become as a tech hub that has given a boost to the local economy and is increasing the number of job opportunities in Texas.

Tech companies today are going big in Austin and while some are not building their headquarters there, they are taking Austin very seriously. More big companies are opening new offices in Austin while the companies already there are opening more offices.

Google

Google is one of the major tech companies in Austin. It has been expanding rapidly increasing its presence in downtown Austin. They recently signed a lease to occupy the 35 story building whose construction is scheduled to be completed in 2022. Google has approximately 800 employees in Austin with the building estimated to house around 5,000 people in 790,000 square feet of office space. This shows the commitment from Google to the Austin area.

Apple

Apple is another big tech company that continues to create more employment opportunities in Austin. Today, the number of employees Apple has in Austin has grown to almost 7,000. This shows how important the city of Austin is to the big tech companies. Apple is a tech giant and continues to grow in the area and that helps contribute to Austin being seen as a tech hub. Apple is also currently one of Austin’s largest office space holders with more than 725,000 feet of office space. This number might be surpassed by google after the new building they want to occupy gets finished. Apple also wants to build a $1 billion campus in the area. The campus will add around 5,000 new employees with the potential to house 15,000 employees eventually.

Amazon

Amazon is also another tech company that has knocked on doors in Austin with a significant investment aimed to provide more than 800 jobs. Over the past four years, amazon has created more than 1,000 jobs in Austin and now it will hire more software engineers, cloud computing experts and research scientists. If the investment is a success, Amazon will have a headcount of around 7,400 employees in Austin.

Other major tech companies in Austin include Facebook and the first ever tech company here, Dell Technologies, which made some of the residents here millionaires. Dell has a well established presence here and with the emergence of so many other tech companies showing interest and commitment in Austin, it’s safe to say that Austin is now a major tech hub.

The tech industry is one of the most significant drivers of growth in an economy. This means Austin is will most likely continue to experience more and more growth in its economy.  Not only has it established itself as a major tech hub, but it continues to grow at an impressive rate as more and more tech companies continue to show interest in this location. Residents of Austin now have more reasons to rejoice with the increased economic growth and new job opportunities.
